Review - House of Lashes Noir Fairy & Hollywood Glam

If any of you makeup enthusiasts are on Instagram I am sure you have stumbled upon @HouseofLashes page. House of Lashes offers a variety of styles from natural to glam. Their Noir Fairy lashes are quite popular on Instagram and I immediately fell in love with their luxe appearance. I decided to order a couple of pairs to try out if these lashes were really worth all of the buzz.

» Price -  $18
» Availability - House of Lashes
» Overall Rating - .The Noir Fairy lashes definitely give your lashes that luxe look. I was a bit skeptical at first due to the fact that right after applying them they felt quite heavy. I did not think I was going to be able to wear these lashes. After a few minutes passed that heavy feeling went away and they settled in quite comfortably. I usually opt for thin/invisible band lashes but I got through the entire day without any discomfort. Do they live up to the hype? In my opinion, yes. This multi layered lash gives your look a unique and whimsical touch.

» Price -  $9
» Availability House of Lashes
» Overall Rating - .The Hollywood Glam lashes are part of their "Au Natural" collection. When looking at the product photos and on the models the lashes looked quite full yet still natural. When I opened these up I could not tell a different between these and any other drugstore brand I already owned. It had a nice thin band but there was really nothing else mind blowing about these lashes. They did fill in my lashes a bit. For the price I will stick with my drugstore brand lashes that will give me the same effect for a fraction of the cost.

Swatch of The Day - MAC Cosmetics RiRi Woo

» Price -  $15
» Availability - MAC Cosmetics (Limited Edition) will return in June
» Overall Rating - A tad bit deeper than MAC's Ruby Woo. It has a retro matte finish and did not leave my lips feeling dry. Lasted a good 7 hours before signs of fading began to show. This lipstick will be launching again in June with the RiRi Hearts MAC Collection. The collection will be released in multiple installments throughout the year.

Swatches & Reviews

Love Affair (Top - No primer | Bottom - With primer)
» Review - It is a soft and delicate pink. It took some layering to get it to show up when I was trying to wear it on my lids. Also applied a tad bit streaky on top of the primer. I loved using this as a blending color along my crease. It allowed a soft buffed out look to my crease colors.

Electric Lemonade (Top - No primer | Bottom - With primer)
» Review - A bright yellow with a slight bit of shimmer. This color was easy to work with and did not require a lot of layering. Great lasting power. Perfect option if you want a yellow with some sheen.

Melancholy (Top - No primer | Bottom - With primer)
» Review - This color is amazing! Vibrant blue with a very small amount of shimmer. Very easy to work with and did not need to layer this color at all. Highly pigmented. I love this blue!! Perfect for adding a pop of color on your lower lash line or wearing it on your lids.

Lace Panties (Top - No primer | Bottom - With primer)
» Review - Isn't this color incredibly gorgeous? It is a purple-ish pink color with gold undertones. Very versatile, can be work on lid, crease, lower lash line, etc.. Easy to work with. This color is quite unique and I did not own anything like it in  my collection. Definitely a must-have.

Chocoholic (Top - No primer | Bottom - With primer)
» Review - Deep coppery brown. Great pigmentation and easy to blend. Perfect for everyday eye looks. Although it has a bit of shimmer to it this color still worked perfectly along my crease and gave me a lot of depth.

Super Nova (Top - No primer | Bottom - With primer)
» Overall Rating - Ok, let's all just take a moment to take in the awesome-ness that is Super Nova. How cool is this color? It is described as a matte black with multi-colored shimmer. This black is insane. I also used this color as a liner and the shimmer still shined through. Beautiful color, amazing pigmentation and the multi-colored shimmer just adds that extra bit of love. Very unique color with solid staying power!

Review - Maybelline Clean Express Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

Official Description - Go from Fierce to Fresh-Faced...Fast! Oil-free, dual phase formula leaves no greasy residue. Quick dissolving power with no harsh rubbing.

» Price -  Lowest price $4.97 at Walmart, $5.99 at Ulta
» Availability - Walmart, Ulta, Target
» Review - Maybelline has just released their new Clean Express! Line. This remover comes in a classic eye, waterproof eye, cream formula and wipes version. I opted for the waterproof version because my eyeliner is waterproof. With standard makeup wipes it takes a lot of rubbing and tugging to get my liner off. It's never a good sign when you see a few eyelashes on the wipe either. So I always have to have a separate product to remove my eye makeup.

I think it's a pretty good deal for 4oz of product! First you shake the bottle to mix the solution together and pour a tiny bit out onto a cotton round. I gently rub it around my eyes and it melts away all of my waterproof liner. It does smear it around a bit but after a few rubbings it wipes it completely clean. I love that it does not leave a greasy oily feeling that I get with other removers that I have tried. So far this has been the best price point and most effective eye makeup remover that I have used on my eyes.

Swatch of The Day - OCC Lip Tar in Clockwork

» Price -  $18
» Overall Rating - It is described as a rich terracotta with vivid orange undertones. This lip tar is part of OCC's Sci-Fi Lullabies Collection. It has a matte finish. This particular color was inspired by the book/movie A Clockwork Orange. I am in love with this color! Perfect for Spring & Summer. Not too vibrant and not too pale. My favorite lip tar from the Sci-Fi Lullabies collection.

MAC Fashion Sets Swatches - Ablaze & Heroine

Today MAC Cosmetics launched their new limited edition collection Fashion Sets. It had an early release online and it hit all MAC stores/counters today. I was impressed with the entire collection but I only wanted two of the four lipsticks that launched. I picked up the highly anticipated Heroine & Ablaze. I bought a backup of Heroine because I love purple lipsticks so much. After swatching Ablaze I regret not getting a backup of that color. It is stunning!

Did any of you pick up goodies from this collection?

Swatch of The Day - MAC Betty Bright Lipstick

» Price -  $16.50
» Availability - Limited Edition - Sold Out MAC Cosmetics Try your local MAC counter or store.
» Overall Rating - Please excuse the delay in this post. I apologize that this lipstick is currently sold out. I decided to post up the swatch for anyone that needed a reference in how Betty Bright showed up. This is a lipstick with a satin finish. The color is a vibrant peachy coral. I was pleasantly surprised that it did not wash me out. I did need to layer this color quite a bit but that is the case for most lipsticks with a satin finish that I own.

Swatch of the Day - Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Exposed

» Price -  $24.00
» Availability Tarte, Sephora
» Overall Rating - Amazing lasting power. I can eat and drink with ease, this color does not budge. It is slightly darker than my natural lip color so it gives the illusion of fuller lips. It has a peppermint taste to it that is not overpowering. I love that it is retractable with no need for a separate sharpener. Can't wait to try other colors!
